Looking at the instructor in the back's arms (on the sides  of the canopy!) I suggest the stude/front seater is busy, but appears to have the spare capacity to spot spotters and wave! ;D

And or the instructer in the rear took over the controls to show him a proper high speed bank. Not giving the student time to tighten his straps, he's actualy pressing on the canopy for dear life!! ;D ;D ;D

You'd probably say the same about this Jaguar pilot I photographed then, more so when you realise that he was actually over a bombing range in pouring rain! ;D ...
