Looking north up the channel with Vancouver Island on the left and the B.C. mainland on the right,.....here is what Wendy and I can see on any given day with a 10 minute drive from home........I know its a beautiful sight, and I hope to never tire of it....

Thats an awful lot of driftwood you've got on your beach there.

Thanks for the words guys, .......the driftwood problem is sooooo huge here that when at the beach on a bit of a cool day, there are many fires to huddle around and make new friends..........

Ahhhh... very serene. Rugged, chilly beaches are very beautiful in their own way.
Reminds me I'm overdue for a FS9 spin in the Queen Charlotte DH89...
Looks like a lot of those pieces of driftwood are runaway logs, still useable for lumber... I'm getting an idea for a business model.

Sounds good to me!
Actually, there are some people making a decent living salvaging old logs from waterways... hard work, but not as rough as logging. Apparently the old wood, if salvageable, is worth good money.

Before the mill on the river in Courtenay closed down, we used to see many of these guys with little car-toppers and 15-20hp operating in the river and along the shoreline.......daily occurance to see them hauling free-drift logs back to the saw blade ..........

We saw this particular guy with his dog all the time......
