Ccccold Vulcan!

Postby F3Hadlow » Sat Apr 08, 2006 12:23 pm

Visited the NEAM at the old Sunderland Airport site today, didn't expect what I got though! We actually got a very heavy shower of snow so I took advantage of this to get some shots of the biggest resident, the Vulcan :) I've got shots of the rest of the collection as well, if anyone is interested Ill show you those later :)...

Blimey! We had a little sleat, but nothing that bad. Never realised they had a Vulcan at NEAM. Must go there sometime... :)

Haven't been there for a few years now, but then I don't often get that far north.

I was talking to the guys at the City of Norwich Aviation Museum about their Vulcan (XM612) and they said when it snows heavily, the weight of all the snow makes the plane tail heavy and the nose lifts off the ground!  They have to go out with brooms and shovels, climb onto the wings and remove as much of the snow as possible before the Vulcan sits on its tail.

Cheers guys, I'm glad you liked them :)

That comment about the snow, I guess the guys at the museum were pretty busy after it stopped because we got a lot more snow than that before it stopped!

As requested you can see more of the NEAM aircraft on this thread :)

And I thought we were the only one's that got the white stuff (snow) still :o

The Vulcan has got to be one of the Greatest of all time aeroplanes...wonderful ;)

Thanks for posting her.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
