Took the MTB out this afternoon

Postby TSC. » Thu Mar 16, 2006 12:35 pm

Hi all,

After not being out on the bike much recently, I decided to dust off the old MTB & head out on it this afternoon. One of my mates wanted to see some pics of the area, so I thought i'd put 'em up here aswell.

I went to Woodbury Common, near Exeter, the common is used by the Royal Marines for their Commando training, so your always likely to stop in a clearing for a breather - only to look around & find yourself surrounded by Commando's with guns, standing around in the bushes, it can be a bit freaky sometimes.

Just some views across the common:

I used to race mountain bikes here, this hill used to be the final hill of the race course - with the finish at the top by the tree's - it was a nightmare, just as you thought you'd finished ::):

Nice shots, TSC. I wish we had trails like that around here. I'm stuck to high-traffic roads. ::)

Cool pics, doesnt look like a half bad bike either!

I dont think ive mentioned it before, but mountain biking is like my life! Out on the bike at least everyother day, and part of 'Defcon 2 Freeride/Downhill Racing Syndicate' 8)

A very different sort of biking though, ie Downhill as appose to XC!

Thought i would take this opportunity to show off my baby...

Really annoyed, cant find any pics of me riding on this comp, but heres some pics of the guys at our local, Les Gets!! Yes, we have to go to France whenever we wanna do something serious...

Cheers Cobra, it's my old XC race bike (although I used to have a Tioga Disk drive on it - just for the noise ;D) - you can see how old it is now though - no disk brakes :o

Used to ride/race back in the days when John Tomac was the king. I used to love the race at Blandford Forum - but I don't know if they do it anymore.

Nice bike Cobra - thats some travel you got going on those forks :o But like you say, a completely different way of riding to my XC ways, all good fun though.

Cheers,

TSC.

No disc brakes - just say its to reduce wieght! What all the poor Road Bikers say  ;D

I actually ride up at blandford quite a lot, theres a Freeride park up there which is actually quite good. LOL i wouldnt wanna go XC round there though, too many hills for my liking!
