Interesting visitor!

Postby Omag 2.0 » Sun Feb 12, 2006 4:33 pm

Last week EBOS had a pretty interesting visitor! A 707 Awacs bird from NATO... doing touch and go's at the airport, so they passed by my window at work every 30 minutes! COOL! :D

First there were some passes by a C-130

And than she came!

Closest pass, had to focus trough a tree! Did a good job I think ;D

And one more pass!

Amazing bird... but not the cleanest or most silent around!

Some people weren't to happy about the practice-runs. A guy who runs the local anti-airport group made this move, with sound-measurement! Ouch!
;D

Sweet stuff Kris :)

I always prefer NATO E3s to RAF ones simply because of the smoke the NATO ones belch out of the engines compared to the clean RAF examples lol :D ;)

SPL-Meter Boy is a wuss. ;D  A girley-man.
How often does that happen, anyway? If you don't like it, think of it as the price for freedom or whatever. ;D Must be one of those folks who thinks the military should somehow win battles without breaking anything or risking anyone's life... ::)
As for me: I love that sound, the louder the better. Once in a while, that's a wonderful thing.

I don't understand how anyone can use the words complain and airport in the same sentance. I don't think we have as many anti-airport people over here, but we have more than our share of anti-military. Take Cindy Sheehan for example. I know her son died in Iraq, but if you want a safe job, go work at McDonalds or something. He knew is was dangerous and was willing to take the risk. It's probably just me, but I think that anyone who complains about our military, weather during war or a practice mission, especially war, should be given 1 week to pack thier bags and get out of the country.

Those are some nice pics.  You should send the anti-airport guy a set of ear plugs !!!!   Some people just have way too much time on their hands !!!!

It's no airbase, it's a public airfield. But there's a lot of cargo-traffic with older planes, hence the higher noiselevel. But on the other hand, when you go there for several hours, you'll be lucky to see about 2 birds comming in.

Anyway, that guy is a major fanatic... just read his site, some parts are in English! The style of writing gives it away! Lots of propaganda, little actual facts!
