What Airshows are like for the enthusiast?

Postby Alphajet_Enthusiast » Wed Feb 01, 2006 9:25 am

Well... an ideal airshow would be something a little like this, and its great when it turns out this way...

... but sometimes (actually a lot of the time) it can also turn out a bit like this...

Even us Brits don't get to see the Canberra fly very often!

Yep, that day the Canberra was the star attraction. They landed and then opened up the nose and all, awesome machine it is.  :)

You'll be pleased to know a flyer at Waddington and RIAT is looking likely with Waddo looking to celebrate the type :)

As for rainy conditions at airshows true there not ideally what you want but it has enabled me to get some of my most spectacular (and famous in one case!) photos...

I remember being allowed to crawl all over the Canberra as an Air Cadet at RAF Wyton back in the 80's (my first camp). Amazing piece of kit. The only bummer was the blocks were being repainted so we had to kip out on the sports field in tents that had been chewed up by giant moths (more holes than canvas) and a Nimrod would take off at 2am and one would land at 3! Talk about an interrupted nights sleep.
I LOVED it. The PR Canberras were fun and the pilots and groundcrew were really nice to us. I even had some photographic interpretation lessons 8)

:oFor a brief moment I thought Donald Sutherland was in the foreground of the bottom piccie!

I thought that Duxford last October was gonna turn out like the second shot but luckily things brightened up. I remember a few of us were there - nice selection of shots should still be on the forum.

I was thinking John Huston... that's actually a really good photograph, if not the best view of the display itself.

Well noting my name, I just had to comment.

I personally like it a bit less clouded. But there are some Airshows ive been to where i would give anything for that weather.
