I must admit that the same thought crossed my mind. ::)

Never fear, if fate had taken a hand your old mate Hagar was on the spot to record it for posterity. :D

Warts and all, Old Blighty has some charm... ;D Beautiful stuff, Doug.
For some reason, I don't picture that guy on the cliff slipping- I see the whole piece he's standing on breaking off.
Funnier.

Very pitoresque shots Doug! I always new the south of England was a wonderfull place, but this is even better! I love those old houses... they don't make villages that cosy anymore... shame...

Cheers,

Kris

Speed reading can be dangerous (though maybe not so much as dancing over a cliff). I thought you were being literarily polite for a moment; I read that as, "on the spot to record the posterior." Then, again... ::). Rotty's thought of the cliff collapsing isn't totally implausible, either. Oh, well, it seems the U.S. isn't the only place where fools sometimes adorn the scenery.
Otherwise, really nice scenes, though. 8).

Very nice photos!
Ah Soui, you'll be leaving the mainland in future?  :)
I on the other hand am perfectly happy with Belgium, England is a very nice place but I am more a culinary type of person. English mustard must be about the worst thing I've ever tasted. And Cadbury's ;D
You know im just joking, the Cadbury honey crunch thing is lovely!  ;D  ;)

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad I posted these now. Shame the old sun was hiding behind cloud for most of the day.

:D

I also saw that possibility but he obviously didn't. ;)

Beachy Head (just a little further east) has been a well-known suicide spot for centuries. Seems it has a fatal attraction for people that way inclined. It's not unusual to hear of somone throwing themselves off the cliffs along here so you can see why I was not certain of his intentions. http://www.forensicmed.co.uk/beachy_head.htm
Not sure if they still do it but it used to be a popular spot for model slope-soaring. I've never done it there myself but when the wind's in the prevailing south-west the slope lift over those cliffs would be fantastic. I'll go back when the weather is better & try to get some decent shots from the top.

[quote]The english countryside is fantastic... One minute you're driving through the most lovely small village and then just around the corner you almost slam into a Learjet (that was some years ago though) I don't remember what the airfield was... unfortunately...

Would that have been Dunsfold by any chance?

Nope the only time I've ever been on the field was when we were allowed on to see the Hawker P1127 they had there for a while..

According to my dad the Field was Lasham

Ah OK. That's not too far from Popham where I was the day before.

I found these shots I took of Beachy Head during my short flight from Deanland airstrip a couple of years ago. You can just see the famous lighthouse. The aircraft is a Jodel owned by an old friend of mine.

as far as the suicides go, I believe there is one gentleman who now is patrolling the hills there, in the hopes of getting a full time patrol from the council. He has apparently stopped quite a few jumpers since he started. Doesn't get paid for it either.
