Last from church install

Postby beaky » Sun Dec 11, 2005 12:58 pm

Finally finished the church install... put in a long day by myself yesterday (all overtime; no problem with that!!). Went very well except having control issues with the far camera again. I had to give up on it; no time. But Chris'll have one cam for this morning's service, and we'll debug the other before their Xmas extravaganza....

Here's a before shot of the control room:

I don't price 'em, I just install 'em... but I believe the total price tag for parts, labor and consulting is slightly over $100,000 US. I'd estimate that rack shown has over $10,000 worth of gear in it. I know it's all expensive because it's very heavy. ;)
Being a landmark church in a prosperous parish, they got some sort of big grant recently, and after taking care of some long-needed masonry work, thay admirably spent the rest on A/V and network stuff.

Thanks. I'm proud of this one, and thankful my "assitant" Rick and Chris the verger were so helpful.
Just wish I'd got away clean- that camera control bug is gonna haunt me (especially if I have to go back in that crawlspace to reun a new line... noooooo!).

Hi Rotty....!
A fantastic series of photo's overall, of the complete installation...
Extremely interesting for Fozzer... ;)...!

I'm glad it all went well, it certainly looks more modern, and more complicated than the installation of an ancient Willis* pipe organ... :o...!
Up-to-date, electric-trickery... 8)...!
LOL...!

Paul...(amateur organist)... ;D...!

Looks like you had quite the job overthere... I just hope the fuses don't blow the next sundays... The vicar went a bit wild during the christmas carrols... misses Jackson's still in shock after his techno-remix...  ;D

Report from yesterday's service is that all went well; everybody's thrilled. But...
Sadly, I'm back there tomorrow to take care of that punchlist... that damn camera is going to make me crazy. I have a bad feeling I'll have to crawl under the church again, this time to rig a spare cable for control... whistling the theme from The Great Escape helps, but not much.
