Santa Spotted in Cape Cod!

Postby Fly2e » Wed Nov 30, 2005 8:21 pm

Well I spent the past weekend at my in-laws who live up in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Santa was arriving down in Bar Harbor by boat.
Time to pack up my wife, my 2 girls and see whats going on down at the dock.

Oddly enough, goose-stepping didn't come to mind for me... it was the thought of Santa emerging from the sea, all covered in kelp, with eels dropping out of his beard... :D
That's a nice little tradition they've got there- love that old police cruiser.
In my hometown when I was a kid, Santa would arrive in the town square atop a fire truck, then sit at the back of a semi handing out gifts to just about every kid in town.

It is pretty interesting!
He hops in that old police car and they slowly drive to the center of town.
All the people walk behind the car.
When everybody gets there, they sing carols and there is much festivity!
Then Santa lights the tree and Christmas officially arrives!
This year the weather was quite mild, last year I needed to bring my flask!  ;)

Hi Dave :)

You made my day!

They all think I am off my rocker when I talk about Santa Clause down at the Royal Canadian Air Force Association, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Lions Club, the Shrine and the Over the Hill Rocking Chair Flying Club. :( :( :(
I am the one that phones all our children at 04:30 every Christmas morning to tell them and the children Santa has been.  I even phone our neighbours and get the old girl up (she is usually up at 05:00 anyways) :) :) :)
I would stay up half the night just to put the childrens toys together (that was when you had to put things together like train sets, doll houses bikes etc.) and as soon as the old girl hit the sack I would wake the children up (usually about 04:30) and tell them Santa Clause had been. ;DLOL
Boy do I miss those days. ;)
I still put out cookies and milk AND they are gone in the morning.
Now your pictures prove that there is a Santa Clause...Thanks Dave
AND
HUMBUG to the rest of you non-believers ;DLOL (singing Jingle Bells)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug (A true believer in Santa Clause :) ;))

I've always had my suspicions about Santa, I mean the guy has a beard, wears a red suit and represses a minority for labour (poor elves).... definately a commie ;D

I can see a couple of folks here are going to get lumps of coal in their stockings for Christmas ;DLOL

Now come on guys do you really think Union Postal workers all over the world would deliver mail to Santa Clause if he did not exist?  Of course not. :)
AND
What about the Union Air Traffic Controllers all over the world that track his sleigh on Christmas eve and the radio announcers who broadcast those reports from licenced radio stations, they all can't be wrong. ???

I rest my case...thanks Dave for showing Santa Clause. :)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Amazing pictures Dave! I really love the lighting! The diffuse glow-effect really adds to the atmosphere. Did you shoot 'em that way, or are they a little "tweeked"?

Just one question... where are the raindeer? And the sled? On the bottom of the river?  ;D

We don't have this tradition here. ;)

They burn it or eat it or whatever.

They're either very drunk or liars. ;)
