I didn't hesitate. It's only about 50 miles away, nice old theater, pay "the night of", and I've mixed this band at the same venue before. Tarrytown is a quaint little burg clinging to a steep hill on the Hudson River; this old music hall is a fine example of a sadly vanishing breed.
BTW: the time-stamp was an accident; forgot I'd left it on from another session... d'oh...

There hasn't been a whole lot of money put into technical stuff here until very recently...but the Music Hall now boasts a spankin' new Meyer line array system. Thank you, God...before now, part of my job at this venue has been to lug in and set up a rental PA; no more of that nonsense!! I'm just champing at the bit to hear this system in full cry. Sounds pretty damn good with just a CD going at 30%...
My office for the evening... used to have to set all this up, too... this just gets better and better. They even put in a proper platform in the house. The bad news: the FOH postion is now all the way under the balcony. Even with a line array, in this very nice-sounding room,it's gonna be hard to hear what's really coming out under here.
Whatever; there's work to do. Someone else has loaded in all the mics and mic stands, and the Hall now also owns monitor wedges (my old bones are grateful for this!), but it's all got to be set up. Here we see Rob, who brought all the rented back-line stuff,doing his thing. My old friend Maria (from high school), who to my surprise appeared this evening as my assistant, will help me setup and patch the mics and DIs. As light as tonight's workload is, it's very cool to have help with it. And I haven't seen Maria in ages- good to catch up.
