The RR Merlin III for REAL men!
The RR 'R' Schneider Trophy engine belonging to the Supermarine S6B, mother of the Merlin
RR Merlin 60 series cut-away (what a waste I need one of these!!!)
And just for my old pal Roger a Griffon (yuk)

All those Rolls Royce aero engines are sweet though.

Hey Mark, why has that Merlin 60 got a tag on it that says Daimler-Benz DB605![]()

Amazing to think though that that Merlin III would produce a little over 1000hp. The Tucano gets 1051hp from something quarter of the size (if that)!

Wow. I never figured them that big.

I'd rather have a Napier Sabre actually.

And I bet more than a few Typhoon pilots would have wished they had a Merlin

It is amazing but somehow it never had quite the same appeal to me as a Merlin at full chat.

Reliable as it is I don't think the Typhoon would have been a Typhoon with a Merlin.
Maybe a Griffon then

I'd still like to hear what that saber sounds like.
