I had no idea what anyone looks like. If I knew what people looked like I would have certainly said hello. I'll be able to recognise Roger n Doug next time so I come over n say hi

Unfortunately it will be several months now before there's much chance of that. :'( Just to make sure you'd better check this out. This is the almost famous Grumpy aka Hagar aka me. 8)

I'd just like to say that the only things you are in danger of when meeting Doug are your braincells getting a serious boosting in their knowledge of classic aviation and your ribs splitting from laughing so hard ;D
Methinks that Doug was a great loss to the teaching profession, he would have been fantastic in the classroom ;)

Thanks Mark. I'm very flattered but your job wouldn't suit me at all. I've done my fair share of instruction & like to think I'm quite good at it but this has always been teaching people who want to learn. That makes it much easier & I'm not convinced I could give anyone that didn't wish to learn the enthusiam or interest to take any notice of what I'm saying. You haven't seen the other side of me. I have a great deal of patience but one of my many failings is that I could never suffer fools gladly. It doesn't happen often but when I lose my rag, from sheer frustration at the stupidity of it all & my own inabilty to cope with it, you wouldn't want to know me. If I did this in the classroom I would probably be arrested & locked up. :o ;)

You have my deepest respect as I know I could never do your job, never mind be successful at it. :)

Over here they don't lock you up for terrorising the little buggers, I got a payrise after the first major wobbly I threw which reduced many people to tears. Oddly enough I'm the only teacher without problems with regard to classroom discipline ;D The other teachers use me as a threat as in "behave or Mark will be taking the next lesson" 8) Paid to be horrible, how wonderful ;D

Soulds like Mark has them well under control. Every now and then in the news you hear of teachers being hit by their pupils. I don't understand how schools can function without respect and discipline. Where did respect go? And why is it that I sound like I'm 70 when I am only 27!!! Strange!

I wish a student would try and hit me, just so I could cave their head in and then NOBODY would mess with me ;D
Alas my reputation went before me as I used to live in one of the ghetto areas in town and even the muggers were afraid of me... you just can't get the quality of criminal these days ::) ;D

I think respect & discipline went back in the 1970s or even earlier when the 'do-gooders' (as I call them) started experimenting with the education system & decided that teachers & pupils should be on first-name terms among many other changes. These 'do-gooders' included liberal minded politicians, teachers & so-called education experts. After ruining the education of a whole generation of children or maybe a couple of generations they now have the brass neck to admit they might have got it wrong.* ::)

*PS. Much the same can be said for the infamous Dr Spock. Mr Spock from Star Trek probably has more sensible ideas on bringing up children than him.

I think they must be the same people who banned the egg and spoon race from school sports days because its fuels child aggression. And now you are only allowed to play 'Conkers' in the playground if you wear goggles!!!

Sadistic, Hagar! The warning should have been posted before the link:o. You'd put up the "Bridge is Out" sign on the other side of the stream (or in it), wouldn't you? ::) ;D 8)

;) At least I gave proper warning & emphasised it in bold type. I was merely following standard procedure for formal documents but they use small print like this so you need a magnifying glass to read it. ::) :D
