P.S. Can someone tell me why the hawk practically did a tail-slide at Shoreham? I bet someone's gonna get a slap on the wrist for that one

Hmmm. I was at Shoreham all day & didn't notice anything unusal. Mind you, I wasn't paying much attention during the Hawk's display. I'd already seen it at Shoreham on Friday & Biggin yesterday.

He'd be very lucky not to receive a Caterpillar club membership if he managed to do that. Jets don't work backwards...

What about the Sukhoi su27 or the Mig? they can tail slide and there jets.

Some years ago I saw the Frecce Tricolore singleton do a tailslide in an MB339. This would have been at Greenham Common or Mildenhall in the early 1980s.* First time I'd ever seen it done in a jet.

*PS. Greenham 1983. Just look at that flightline.
