A few more from 47N

Flew the second part of my BFR today; may post some in-flight shots later (CFI took a few with his camera), but here are some post-flight snaps... nothing fancy.
Here's a view of the airport from the parking lot, looking SW.

If you've flown at 47N in FS9, you might have seen a big fancy beacon tower... here's what it really looks like. Modest, but it works fine.

Say hello to my little friend: the weathered but very serviceable interior of N75715. The PTT is pretty ugly, but it works: more than I can say for a few other old 'hawks I've rented. That's my portable PTT switch on the right yoke: the one on that side doesn't work- or maybe it doesn't have one; can't recall. CFI didn't have his own...::)
It's certified for IFR, but note the lack of GPS... no problem; I need to work on my VFR navigation basics anyway.
One really sweet feature is the nav radios: they will show what radial you're on via the numerical display, which is very handy, esp.  close to a station when the CDI is flopping around as you try to dial in the OBS. Never seen that before...
Also has DME. With all that, who needs GPS for VFR flight?
And oh yes, the clock works, too. Amazing...
Shge's a nice old plane- powerful and rigged pretty straight. This morning we even came to an understanding about how to keep her trimmed for cruise- I'm already feeling pretty comfortable in this one.
Cosmetically not so great, but who cares?

As long as she is Ship Shape Bristol Fashion rotty I wouldn't worry to much about cosmetics.

Unless....unless you have an old girl like mine then everything has to be working and shiny ::)

Great shots and I noticed you still have the old mike. I could never ever get used to that style.

Have fun!

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Not worried at all- I've flown worse. The important stuff (prop, nosewheel strut, hinges, brake lines, tires, etc.) are all up-to snuff, and the seats aren't too rattly... haven't perused the service logs yet, but I don't think I'll see anything disturbing there. She's been beaten to hell by students, but probably never been pranged. No cracked aluminum,no missing rivets or aileron trim weights, no oil-canning anywhere (believe me, I was extra-thorough on my first preflight of this 20-plus-yr. old plane).  Engine is strong, and the worst stuff is cosmetic- cracked plastic and fiberglass, that sort of thing. She flies great.

True... no wife, but it may be hard to impress the ladies with such a weathered rental... best to hustle them into it before they can have a good look, and get them to notice my superb flying instead. ;D
If I owned this one, though, wife or no, there are a few things I'd fix right away, just out of personal pride...

I never liked them either, but it's nice to have a backup. Reminds me- I should check the speaker next time, make sure it works.
