Departure day

Postby Hagar » Mon Aug 15, 2005 12:19 pm

Well, it seems I missed all the fun this year. Typical but never mind. I left for Shoreham bright & early this morning to see the boys leave. Should have popped over last evening but I was exhausted from the drive down from Yorkshire. Ozzy & I watched the fun on the airport webcam instead. Don't tell him but we missed a low flypast by the Spitfire. :-X

Shoreham in the early morning mist. It was lovely when I left home, a few miles along the coast. Airfields are usually like this, in England anyway. Not bad today but can be the coldest & dampest places on the planet at times.

This is what I came for. Promised Mark a few shots but it's one of them Griffon-engined jobs this year. More later.

Mist didn't take long to clear & our French friends are the first to leave. Au revoir mes amis.

The Merlin departs for home. Settle down Mark. The helicopter, not the engine. ::) ;)

The Harriers ready to depart. This is always a sad moment as (apart from one or two old miseries who complain about the noise) these chaps are very popular at Shoreham. Hopefully they'll be back in a couple of weeks for the RAFA display. Not sure yet as they might be based at Biggin that weekend.

More in part 2.

Beauties!! I really would like to see and hear a  Harrier fly once again. It has been too long!

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!
