What do you think?

Postby Hagar » Sat Aug 06, 2005 5:37 pm

Something a little different. Been messing around sorting out my photos. Some of my recent efforts converted to greyscale. I think some of these look better than the original colour images.

Sweet. Tomorrow, try shooting  a few "in black and white", if your camera will do that. Might get more of a "real b&w" feel than converting...
And BTW, have a blast- hope the weather is kind...

ooo pretty spit's and hurricane  :) oh! and look, a C-47! marvelous pic's Hagar! I'm kinda partial to the B&W pic's myself... they seem to catch the 'mood' a little better.

Doug, when I tried to shoot some stuff, I was told by a friend that if I did that again, he'd never look at another of my shots again........... :o

.........from my perspective, keep shooting how you like,.......it's the stuff that's different, which makes things interesting........ ;)

.......I started in B/W so you'll always have me on your side with them........just use a yellow( No. 8 ) filter to enhance the contrast a bit.......

I still like color better, but I have to say number 2 looks waaay better this way... I really don't like that yellow with the red stripes...

Keeps those quality shots comming Doug! And have fun!

I like it.  It gives the older planes a more vintage feel

The arrow one looks better like this..The rest i prefer in colour mainly because they are old(er) planes except for the Tucano...Even though black and white makes them feel more "old" the Overal sharpness says they are shots with more recent camera's... It kinda conflicts in my eyes

what do you mean with 'more recent cameras'... my Fed is just as good (it's our awful scanner that is the hurdle for putting my pictures online)

They look too new for me to be old. That's just IMO

Thanks for your comments. Think I'll stick to colour but sometimes black & white photos look better. Depends on the subject.

These were only quickly converted to see how they looked. I think you're going by old newspaper & magazine photos. These are far more pixellated than the worst digital image due to the printing process used. If you saw the original prints from a high quality plate I think you would be impressed.

I can always add a little noise to make them look old if that's what you want. Camera manufacturers must spend millions of dollars trying to make the images clearer. ::) :P ;)
