The plastic object is a toy, provided to stimulate these big guys, who would otherwise get quite bored in this small but very well-designed habitat. In the wild, these bears roam far and wide indeed...

Speaking of "bears", this is a red panda. These guys are bored to death by tourists and photographers...
This tamarin monkey caught me by surprise: I could not get a good shot of them, as they were behind glass and jumping around like- well, like little monkeys. but suddenly this little guy appeared right at the edge of the glass, studying us with much interest. A little more light on his face might've been nice, but a flash would've ruined it, no time to fiddle with the camera, and I kinda like the "chiaroscuro" effect, anyway...
