Oshkosh #3:

Postby Wing Nut » Wed Jul 27, 2005 3:18 pm

So I walk past the vendors to the ready line where they show the really special planes, and what do I see?  Seeing this plane is (without exaggerating) half the reason I went to Oshkosh in the first place.  Meeting Bob Odegaard and chatting with him was an additional bonus.  He's a really nice guy and put up with my inane questions about the plane's handling and historical details wonderfully and with much grace.  He was flying his DC-3 that day and giving tours, thus the uniform.  Try as I might, I just couldn't get him to let me take her up...  ::)  ;D  I did confirm from him that he really is rebuilding Race #74, another F2G, but lost the funding after 9/11, so it is shelved indefinitely...

Keep in mind, I was taking detail shots, so some a re a bit off center...

It is scary enough in FS, but with Kevin next to it in real life it is terrifying :o ;D ;)

I'd think it takes a fair few muscles to hold that stomach in, don't worry Kevin middle aged spread is natural apparently. You have kids, they drive you to drink, drinking causes the beer belly. Natural ;) ;D

Cool that must have been fun to see your dream airplane, Corsair. Not bad of a airplane, experimental eh?, funny. ;D

Wow! Impressive!  :o

Last shot: experimental? Put Kevin in the cockpit... now THAT would be experimental!  ;D

Who is that Steven Baldwin/Michael Palin cross-over standing next to you Kevin?

Cheers,

Kris

edit: Odegaard... would he be the owner/pilot of that gorgeous corsair?

THAT sir is Bob Odegaard.  He own's #57, a DC-3, several other warbirds, and is just about the biggest Corsair expert in the world.  ;D

K - you need to correct your sig image now.  THe "57" in your sig is too far back on the fuselage..

Actually, the sig pic is from before it fell into disrepair and was rebuilt.  It also had that huge hog-nose snorkel on the front, but I hate that thing and Photoshopped it out...  ;)
