Spitfire and Hurricane.

Postby Saitek » Sat Jul 16, 2005 11:22 am

I thought of you Mark while I was taking these. I was so cramped in the building that it was a real struggle to get these. It was disappointing not to be able to get the whole plane.

Taken at the Spitfire and Hurricane memorial Museum.

Nice - but that last photo kind of spoils the beauty of the plane .. :)

Nice. Hasn't changed much since my days down at Manston. Its a nice little memorial. Apart from Duxford and Hendon, its probably the only BoB airfield still with either a (genuine) Spitfire or Hurricane in residence...

I was awfully surprised how much work is put into them. They said more than 18,000 hours of labour went into restoring the Hurri. Makes me wonder what they were actually dealing with!

Most of that will have been spent forming an armed picket to fight off the horny warbird fanatics ;) ;D
