Spitfire

Postby Mr. Bones » Sat Jun 18, 2005 3:05 pm

Hello guys,

A few snaps from the Spitfire I shot at Gilze Rijen yesterday. The weather didn't cooperated, but my lens performed just fine considering the low cloud base.

I'd like you to tell me just how you came to know that it was either Red 3 or 7. As far as I know they look the same.

where its parked. Every time i have seen them they park up in order. Because i can only see 3, and not how they are parked i am assuming it could be either 7 or 3 if they are parked in one long line.

So only because you can see three. Remember at airshows they have 10 lined up. So that could be Red 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 assuming they're parked in that photo left to right. If they're right to left then it could be Red 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10.

So lets just say that it's one of the red's and not try to guess exactly which it is. ;D

Wonderful shots! Lucky you got to see it fly!

The fighter factory spitfire was at the show I went to today, and it was looking pretty sharp, but it didn't move at all during the show...

might have to take vacation time monday to go sit and wait for it to depart....excepts for the fact that as soon as I'm in the porta-john the blasted thing will take off and be just out of focus before I get done with my business...:(

A lovely MkIX there. Kevin the XIV has the Griffon engine and a 5 bladed prop ;)
The funny little intake is actually where the cowling had to be bulged to fit the intercooler on the Merlin 60 series engines (if memory serves...), and they knocked a couple of holes in it for extra cooling to improve its performance (by a pathetically small amount but every little helps) ;)
