RAF Leuchars 1974 ... no pictures, help needed

Postby kemplen » Mon Apr 11, 2005 6:13 am

..... hi, not been around for a while but a lots been happening, ... I've got a new scanner, it does transparencies and I,ve got a roll of films worth of slides from an RAF Leuchars Air Display in 1974, .... (my parents took me) .... now the question .... what size should I make the scans? to get the best results ? some of the pics will need enlarging, to show the planes to their best (Lightenings, Hunters, Phantoms, Vulcan etc.) and some dust removal? ... the software does that too but I'm not sure .... has anybody any experience of scanning slides?

I take it the scanner doesn't have a slide attachment? In which case I'd say you need to go as large as possible on the scans to get decent definition from each...

I recently purchased an Epson photo scanner that comes complete with a slide attachment. I haven't used it for slides yet but the included software should make it all automatic.

PS.
hi, not been around for a while but a lots been happening,

I thought you'd done a bunk. Just realised that you're the man to blame thank for me getting my S5000. Fortunately for you I'm delighted with it. :D

I scanned tons of slide when I did a stint at at the local museum......scan at as high a res as you can...that way, you will get all the image info necessary to print the shots when you feel so inclined.....most of what I did, was scanned at 3200 dpi.....it allowed me to do major touchups for some pretty old pics.........
