Ivan goes Train spotting

Surprise... trains on show at the nearest town (Alkmaar)

Star of the day: BR23 23-071 operated by the 'Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij' (http://www.stoomtrein.org). This one drove between Alkmaar and the next town

Image
First run of the day... started 30 minutes late because the water was too cold and they just filled the locomotive. The weather was still good at that time

Image
As the weather got worse (rain, snow)... the performance of my crappy camera went downhill. But still loads of smoke and stuff.

Image
'Hondekop' on show, both diesel (red one) and electric (green one). The blue-and-white one is a regular commuter train

Image
This huge diesel locomotive was used to haul the steam train back after it's short trip (it wasn't possible to turn the locomotive around at the stops)

Great stuff! Sure is different to see something like that. Takes me back to my home, near a big railroadstation for freighttrains. I could watch them for hours using a binocular...

By the way, nice to know you are Dutch!

Fantastische fotos! en schitterende stoomlocomotief!
