My Triumph motorcycle

I traded a 1982 Honda CT-110 trail bike and an early seventies Honda CT-90 trail bike for this baby. She has a 441 CC 4-stroke engine with custom exhaust. Tuned for use with 100LL aviation gasoline, and basicly restored from the frame up. The guy traded it to me because it would wheelie in second gear all the time on him, and it was a bit too much bike for him (he is getting older, and the cancer didn't help him any).

More horsepower, right? And if you use it to commute to an airport, that's very convenient. I do wish, however, that this lead-substitution problem could get worked out sooner... the less lead out there, the better. Cool machine, though!

It was more of a 'what was available during tuning' issue than anything. That and the guy lives on one airport, and works at another airport....

As for more power with 100LL, yes! The timing can be advanced much more, allowing for cleaner and more powerful combustion. Yes, there is lead, but since I'm one of the few using it, and I garentee that those DC-6's I see all the time use WAY more than I do, I don't feel the least bit bad.

In my early years of motorcycle appreciation, I remember a couple of 441's but they were both produced by BSA....The Victor Special and the Shooting Star.......does this Triumph have a name associated with it ?

Yeah. This is 1972 Triumph, basicly the time when BSA took over Triumph, so they made this. They called it a Tiger. It was actually more of an enduro/off-road bike, but has been modified for street use.

Took this one this morning before work......

It snowed another 6 to 8 inches after this, and I de-iced 8 Beech 1900's today. It's funny wathing all the Subarus and Minivans getting in wrecks.... I guess it proves that one who learned to drive on ice and snow can handle it a bit better huh? I prefer to drive in snow and ice, definently more fun.

I can't wait 'til summer to ride it!

I know that feeling.  Although we don't get weather like that here, this time of the year I really can't take my old car out on the road and there aren't many things I would rather do.  It's always hard to wait, but well worth it.  

I'd rather wait and keep my prized vehicle safe than risk ruining it in poor weather-or worse (especially in your case) getting killed.  

Have fun with it (in the summer).  ;)
