To anyone who is considering getting a digital SLR:
If you are going to buy a digital SLR I reccomend the Nikon D70, it is far superior to the Canon 300D and only slightly more expensive. For starters The 300D has no spot metering (which is, to me at least a necessity for aircraft photography) and only does 2.5 fps for 4 shots, the D70 has spot metering and does 3fps for up to 144 shots. I have used them both and was dissapointed by the performance of the Digital Rebel, I think you would find it well worth the extra $100-$200 for the D70.
Definitaly true, but you also have to consider the D70 came online way much later than the 300D. If you now compare the 20D to the D70...the 20D will win! Like I said, a body is a bad investment.
Saying a 300D is useless for aicraft photography is not exaclty true. If you see how many people use it exclusively for aviation photography, you'd be stunned. It misses several features (like AI servo at ISO100), but if you are a bit creative, it's possible to frame the action in any conditions.
