The 777 took off right after the DC-10. I was surprised about the distance where they lifted off and the difference in sound they produce. The first you can see in the angle of the photos.

He uses the 300D. Like myself, it certainly produces some great quality shots. It was a set of Kens shots that convinced me to part with the cash for the camera.

Brilliant Ken!!
My suggestion and this is constructive criticism,..

I would pan the camera a little more to the Left on some of the shots. It would give the perspective of "moving forward". Having more "head room" for the aircraft looks a bit more flowing? Do you think. I know that the shots include the whole aircraft, but I think by cutting of some of the rear might give a different perspective.
Just my opinion!

They are great, put them at Airliners, they are right up there with the best!!

Thanks guys!

Craig: If you wait, you can get bigger sized versions on Anet...they are in the upload queue right now.

Dave: Perhaps you are right. All of them are cropped. Here I try to get them under 100kb each. Adding a whole piece of photo without plane on it, would make the filesize bigger or it will reduce the quality to get it bellow 100kb.

Ben: The 300D is getting really cheap right now. It's a good camera for what it is...but sometimes I regret it alot I bought this one, especially after the 20D arrived. Perhaps if you could wait a little longer, there is a new camera approaching, the successor of the 300D. Rumours say it's going to be the 350D. Anyway, when that one will come out, the 300D will become very very cheap! It's a good camera to start with...that's all I can say.
Also keep in mind that a camera body is the worst investment you can do. It's the lens that makes the photo, not the body. Next month I'm going to order a new lens and I'll show you the result. I'm sure you'll notice the difference!  ;)

Very nice Bones. I haven't tried any airliners as they're not really my thing. I went up to Gatwick last year to give it a go but found they put up a darned great 10 or 12 foot high steel security barrier all round it. I used to be able to stand right at the end of the runway but not any more. >:(

PS. Not that it matters that much. When the wind's in the right direction I know the perfect spot (& so would any potential terrorists worth their salt). When it gets a little warmer I might have another try.

To anyone who is considering getting a digital SLR:

If you are going to buy a digital SLR I reccomend the Nikon D70, it is far superior to the Canon 300D and only slightly more expensive. For starters The 300D has no spot metering (which is, to me at least a necessity for aircraft photography) and only does 2.5 fps for 4 shots, the D70 has spot metering and does 3fps for up to 144 shots. I have used them both and was dissapointed by the performance of the Digital Rebel, I think you would find it well worth the extra $100-$200 for the D70.

Seagate 500Gb SATA-300 HDD
Windows XP Professional X64 Edition

That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they

Definitaly true, but you also have to consider the D70 came online way much later than the 300D. If you now compare the 20D to the D70...the 20D will win! Like I said, a body is a bad investment.
Saying a 300D is useless for aicraft photography is not exaclty true. If you see how many people use it exclusively for aviation photography, you'd be stunned. It misses several features (like AI servo at ISO100), but if you are a bit creative, it's possible to frame the action in any conditions.
