Biggin Hill BoB Air Show Part 2

Postby Hagar » Mon Sep 20, 2004 3:35 am

I've put these together to try & sum up over 5 hours of continuous entertainment. Brilliant. ;)

RNLAF F-16 opened the flying diplay. Fantastic. ;D

Now here's the RAF contingent.
Image

Lots of variation to please everyone. Will Curtis in the Su 26 M2. (The chap who flew inverted under 6 limbo poles here last week.) Photos can't do his display justice.

I still can't get a good shot of the Sea Vixen. ::)
Image

This was the theme of the show so no apologies for posting them. I counted 8 Spitfires & 2 Hurricanes in formation.
Image

Good timing or what? 8)
Image

The T-33 I missed at Duxford. Exquisite display by John Romain. He certainly gets to fly some different types.
Image

The Belgian Air Force F-16 shows what he can do.
Image

Ray Hanna closed the show in MH434.

Incredible show. I got home exhausted but happy. What a wonderful finish to the display season. ;D

Unfortunately not, except for the Storch (MS Criquet) I've posted shots of before. German warbirds are rarer than hen's teeth. :(

Great shots Doug. ;)  Love the Spit formations.  I'm gonna make my down to England for airshows next year when I can drive...I'll just have to persuade my parents to let me take one of their cars. ::)

Heretic, I've got two photos of a Fieseler Fi 156c Storch take at Fantasy of Flight in Florida last year.  I'll post them again if you wanna see them? ;)

Doug, you disappiont me. after posting shots of Mr. Van Gestel again with his beautiful J-016...you still don't know WHAT he's flying. >:( nah, i guess you just typed it wrong...15 instead of 16. it's a beautiful photo. when closing my eyes, i can see him lifting off, making a minimum radius 360 followed by barrell roll and a split S to reset his opening act...right?  ;)

Oops. I'll correct that immediately. :-[

The guys from Lakenheath did a flyby in 3 x F-15s. That must have confused me. I got one shot. Maybe I'll post it later.

PS. I'm not certain but I don't think that's Christian Van Gestel.

why do you think it's not him Doug? i know it's his last year as a display pilot, but the season is still going on so it must be him.

next year they will replace the pilot and the plane...hopefully. J-016 was used for the last 4 years...which is two years too long for the airframe. the KLu didn't have the time nor the money to take another Viper and paint it in the display livery. therefore they took the same one...year after year.  ;)

Thanks for the offer, but no. You may post them,if you want, but it wouldn't be necessary for me.
If it was a 109 or 190,the case would look a lot differently. ;D

This reminds me. What happened to those new Fw 190s that were being built some years ago?
