Lost Squadron Airshow

Postby Meyekul » Mon Sep 06, 2004 12:27 pm

Politically Incorrect's airshow pics seemed to be popular, so I'll post some of mine.  I couldn't get my film developed yet, so all I have are the ones I took on my poor quality digital cam.  I'll post the good ones when I get them.

My first stop, Glacier Girl.

Some other plane that was there, I don't know what it is, anyone else know it?

There were 2 of these weird little planes, anyone know what it is?

Looked like they had a bit of trouble getting Porky II out of the Hanger.  The guy in the green shirt is pushing on the tug.

The pics of them flying with the P-47 didnt turn out well on this cam, I'll have some better ones of that when I get my film developed.

That unknown plane is a Burt Rutan Long-EZ homebuild.

Hey good shots!! I looked for you there but I didn't know what I was looking for. But by looking at the photo of the Harion (spelling?) the little blue Navy plane you were there Sunday. Saturday they had it hangered with Porky II.
You pics of the P38s getting ready is a little ways from where I was, I was in direct path of major prop wash, didn't notice until after getting home that had had oil sprayed all over me from Glacier Girl, I'm never going to wash again! :)
I visited the T28 and the P47 today while waiting for the B17 to arrive, which she did in all her glory!!! Will be snaggin a ride in her tommorow!! And yes photos will be shown off  ;)

No about the same show from what I hear just fewer people.
I'm still pissed that the DC3 never showed! I was looking forward to seeing it land. The last one they had there a month or so ago (Yankee Doodle) from the Yankee Air Museum in MI (great place!!) took the tops off trees on landing!
But if you saw the P38's you saw the whole show!!!
(the others were cool too!)

Uh Mark,........you are correct on the Rutan Long EZ, but there was another question before that one...........the un-IDed A/C in the fourth image is a Ryan Navion, I believe...... 8)

One thing I learned is that even though I have a bottom line digital and a cheap 35mm I keep with me it really doesn't matter.
Especially when trying to photograph moving aircraft it is all about the timing and a little luck your shots are great.
And that is what matters is that you have some hard copies of your memories. I keep all the photos I take (proof can be found on my web album :) )
But I would guess 40% of my shots are "good",  5% great and the rest somewhere in between. But I love them :)

Not to mention the photos of the two P38's flying together is real rare when thought about. there are only 6 flyable in the world and only 4 actually fly and one burned. So too see two at once is rare indeed ;D
Great photos and unforgetable memories!!!

FYI: Sept 25-26th here in Sevierville at my Museum there will be Warbird Weekend, and of course you'll see the T28, two P47's (the one you saw there included) PBY Super Cat, Apache Longbow (that is something new coming) and many others, the T33 will probably show also and he'll land here (runway is long enough) Harvard, a few Migs, and some others so pm me if you would like directions!
