Omag under attack?

Postby Omag 2.0 » Sun Aug 22, 2004 4:08 pm

... certainly looks like I am spooked by this one, but i was mearly trying to determinate the type of plane

Photo was taken by my girlfriend in France at the Chateau des Baux en provence... I was surprised she took it, beeing no big fan of Simviation or planes...  ;D

Anyway...

Image

Using photoshop i tried to enlarge the plane and this is the best i could do at the moment...

Image

Anyone knows what this is? it sure was noisy... the pilot kept on going round and round ....

That's a strange looking aircraft Omag. I have no idea what it is. ???

It's a good thing you hadn't upset her. That looks like a pretty big drop behind you. She might have given you a push instead of taking your photo. :o ;D

If it makes a lot of noise, and is very slow, it's probably a Microlight fitted with a Rotax twin cylinder, two-stroke engine.... ;)...!
They are all the rage where I live... 8)...!

Cheap to buy, cheap to fly, and loads of fun to boot... ;D...!

Cheers all.... ;)...!

Almost totally convinced that its a Zenith, but you can go here to decide for yourself whether this is it, or not....

.....also near the bottom of the left hand frame, you will find a link to flightsim files .......included, are some updates for 2004

Well done Ken. I checked out the Zenith site & came to the same conclusion. ;)

Fozzer is also correct about the Rotax. I'm not sure if the 912 is a 2-stroke.

I have a mild advantage, as we have an 801 based here at Courtenay Airpark and last year we had a 701 on floats based here for a while too, so I have been able to learn the visual line of this family .....

As luck might have it, I went to a Homebuilt Aircraft show about 10 yrs ago in Toronto at the International Center. I was with a good friend who knew and introduced me to Chris Heinz.......a very "together" man !......... if you look into his history, you will see a very illustrious career........
