The music shop

Postby Hagar » Mon Nov 24, 2003 8:44 pm

During my trip to Arundel last weekend my car engine started running like a bag of nails. Being an automatic this was not good news. I arranged for my man to look at it as my days spent messing around under a car bonnet are long behind me. While he was doing the business I had an hour to lose & went for a stroll. The weather wasn't good enough to take any photos outside so when I passed a music shop I ventured in for a good look round. The last time I'd been inside one was at Manny's Music Store during a trip to NYC about 9 years ago. This is only a small shop & nothing like that.

I got chatting to the owner who told me he is a drummer - as I was many years ago- so we immediately had something in common. I also play the guitar (it's actually my favourite instrument) so asked if I could take some shots. He seemed rather surprised but readily agreed when I told him what I wanted them for. Here's what I got.

Some old favourites but things have changed a lot in a few years & I have no idea what most of them are. Maybe some of you hotshot guitarists can identify them.

I asked him which was the most expensive one in the shop. He showed me this. It's second-hand & apparently a new one would cost double.

No, I didn't think about it. Maybe I should send him here instead. I could do with a little more interest in this thread. ;)

Thanks Ozzy. :)

Ace. I wouldn't mind the same for Christmas. What's the betting I get socks? :'( ;)

PS. I figured out that a new PRS like the one in my last shot is worth more than my car. ::)

Hi Aeronut. That wouldn't be such a bad idea. I'm a tad rusty so would need some practice. Plenty of air enthusiasts I've met are musicians. I bet we could still show some of these youngsters a thing or two. 8) ;D

I'm not going to England for the holidays. ::)  I hear they don't like Yanks very much over there. ;)

Man, I'd love a Gibson Les Paul....But I don't have the money to cough up for one. :'(

Don't believe everything you hear. :)

So I am going to England for the holidays?  ;D  I'd get band if I did!  Probably whinned up braking Big Ben. ::)

Same applies here.  :(

All I could give would be 200 US dollars for a BC Rich, which is a sweet guitar...

Do you need a classical guitarist? :)

I reckon to be pretty adaptable & play all types of music with all sorts of musicians. That's why our group was never short of work when others were falling by the wayside like flies. Pro jazz musicians like Danny Moss liked sitting in with us & playing the occasional gig. Classical is good. ;)

lol.. pretty cool pictures there! I visited this lady wo sells them about 3 hours south of here, she had 876 guitars in her house for sale, most of which were pretty prciey martins and a bunch of foreign ones that cost over 18,000USD! I only played one expensive one...:-) didn't want to have to buy it if I broke it :-)
