Great White North

Postby ShaneG_old » Fri Sep 18, 2009 6:17 pm

A few from an Alaskan flight today.

These are my first FSX screenshots taken at 1440x900 and resized to fit here, so please let me know if they turned out OK, it took quite a bit of compression to get them down to the limit.

What do you compress with?  Everything looks great except for the red parts.

Hey Shane. They look great! I'm glad you're using full resolution now... It's a huge change in-game, isn't it?

Well Shane all my shots are taken at 1680 x 1050 resolution and resized to 1024 x 640. I have a 22" widescreen monitor. I usually can save them at no lower than 75%. and stay under 150K limit. They don't start to look over compressed until you get down below 70%. I use Paint.net. I'm real happy with this software and it's super fast and simple to use.

These are nice looking shots, but they look a little blurry to me. Be nice to see what they looked like originally. How much did you have to compress them?

:) Bob

These look great! They really gave the sense of a cold, expansive environment of Alaska or Canada.

How did you get the entire snowy landscape? Is it already that cold up there on real weather?

The last one really stands out.  ;)

That is a pretty big resolution to compress. They look great. ;)

Looking real nice Shane. I see that winter add on I told you about is really paying off as it looks pretty cold up there!  ;)

I need to figure out how to get it to work in my sim as REX will seems to have an issue with it. Actually, I thought to myself overnight that maybe if I lower my water setting, it might work as I know when it is set to high, it effects the "depth" of the water and when I add the ice, it is there but I can still see water...

Anyway, looks great!
