It's the Consolidated Pby5a Catalina. There are a number of different  liveries for it. dltpbyf2.zip is the base file.

I know. I wish it did have a VC. It does fly OK in FSX. It also doesn't have any flaps. I'll have to check to see if the real aircraft had any. It would be nice if there was a freeware PBY Catalina fully compatible for FSX as it is a great old aircraft.

Phew!!!! Now that we have that straightened out lets get back to the main question. Why wasn't the PBY Catalina designed with flaps?  Anybody want to jump in with an answer?

LOL. I have no idea but I'll have a guess. The PBY was designed in the 1930s when monoplanes were quite rare & flaps even rarer. It was originally designed as a pure flying boat but later versions were amphibians. All versions were comparatively slow with a cruising speed of 117 mph. The stalling speed was about 79 mph.

A Catalina pilot once told me they often had bird strikes on final approach....from the rear.
It didn't need flaps..
