Wet Paint

Postby Harold » Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:29 pm

Hi all,

I finally giving this repainting thing a go and I'd like to share my efforts so far ...

With this repaint of Shaun Lunt's Piper Super Cub I would like to keep his memory alive by having this aircraft in Flight Simulator.

The base for Shaun's Super Cub is Aerosoft's Super Cub and will feature all handpainted features including panel lines, rivets,
custom decals and some dirt. I had to redo the entire paintkit as the one Aerosoft supplies is horrible. So far I've only been
working on the fuselage but the wings and cockpit will follow. Slowly, as you know I am a horrible nit picker ...

Thank you for looking, hope you like and please share your feedback.

Here's a photo of Shaun next to his Super Cub, which unfortunately didn't survive the crash either :-[

Nice work Harold.  Both my wife and I were fascinated by his story and his incredible pictures from Alaska.  He was an incredibly accomplished young man, just about my age.  So very sad to lose him.

Great project Harold, looking good so far. I doubt if I'll be buying that plane though but I can still enjoy the screenies... :)

Great job on the repainting [smiley=thumbsup.gif], yeah Aerosofts repaint kit for the Super Cub is crap. :P

[edit]I just had an idea, what if on the cowl, or door, or something you paint "In memory of Shaun Lunt", just a thought.[/edit]

I know waht you mean about keeping it as real as possible, I wonder if there is away to make the lower half of the door transparent, because I think Shaun's Cub had the door like that. :)

I would keep it original too. As for a transparant door, maybe the alphachannel will help there. With some models, a black alpha gives transparancy. I'm not sure about this model though, but you could always try!

They are tundra wheels.  Used on bush aircraft for landing on rough terrain.
