Anchorage Action - part 1

Postby Harold » Sun Sep 30, 2007 3:39 pm

- an in between series of my Pacific Coast Tour -

scenery in these screenshots are courtesy of Georender Alaska Cinematic Volume 1.
Anchorage International Airport scenery is made by William Morgan. You can get it here.

As you may remember I had some engine trouble while flying into the Cook Inlet and landed on only one engine at Anchorage International.
I'm still considering my options (engine repairs are expensive let alone a new or a trade-in) so I thought I'd go out and watch some of the
action at the airport. It is - after all - a large international airport with some very heavy cargo activity ...

Here's a tailshot from an Air Canada 767 parked at the South Terminal looking towards the North Terminal.

Image

On the FedEx Ramp on the north side of the airport you can see a lot of action. Here you can see the iDFG MD-11 in the famous Panda livery.
She's a gorgeous bird which I've flown before from Glasgow. Check out my 'Panda at Glasgow' parts 1 and 2.

Image

Here's the PMDG 747-400F in a very nice Atlas Air Cargo livery.

Image

The Captain Sim Lockheed C-130 in a relatively unknown but very good Lynden Air Cargo livery.

Here's a very rare but really nice sighting: a factory fresh, bare metal, Project Opensky Boeing 737-700.
Only parts of the tail, winglets and engines are painted in Alaska Airlines colors. To get this livery you'll need the add-on kit.

Very nice Harold, HOWEVER.

Cutting off parts of the plane? Tut tut, you should know better  :P

But in all honesty it takes nothing away from those shots  ;)

Great angles, however I think #3 and #5 would look better with just a wee bit of addon scenery  8-)

However, as I said, great shots!

Excellent shots again Harold, I have a soft spot for the heavy metal (in music and aviation terms!)  Good quality aircraft shown there, and I have to compliment the set up of your sim, you should be very proud of it.
Looking good!

Thank you all for your nice comments guys! I really appreciate them and it's a motivator to keep going!

Cutting off parts of the plane? Tut tut, you should know better

Ah yes, I'm an advocate of never cutting anything of a plane ... but, I reconsidered! Take a look at part two of the series ::)

doing a bit of plane spotting are we,whilst the beech is in dock?

Still undecided Dave ... still undecided.

Love the c-130 shot!

Yes, she is nice isn't she? Like I said, a very unfamiliar repaint but very well done. It makes the Hercules look really different ...

I have to compliment the set up of your sim, you should be very proud of it.

Thanks Mark and yes I am proud ... a lot of time, effort and some money went into getting my sim as it looks today!

Are you running Alaska Cinematic?

Yes I am. Excellent package but you already know that ;)
