The V-22 Osprey is a joint-service, medium-lift, multi-mission tilt-rotor aircraft developed by Boeing and Bell Helicopters.
Boeing is responsible for the fuselage, landing gear, avionics, electrical and hydraulic systems, performance and flying qualities.
Bell Helicopter Textron is responsible for the wing and nacelle, propulsion, rotor, empennage (complete tail system), ramp, overwing fairing and the dynamics.
The aircraft operates as a helicopter when taking off and landing vertically. The nacelles rotate 90

Dave,

Does that thing actually do vertical takeoff and landing as you rotate the props/rotors from one orientation to another?

best,

IMO the quality of the aircraft draws your attention away from all the bad stuff. ;)

Nice shots there Eno and yes the aircraft does STOVL (Short Takeoff Vertical Landing)
I love the textures on the aircraft very photogenic ;)

I have done that before too Spitfire. :P All the mods are the same thing to me. ;)

Lovely shots mate! That Osprey is very detailed!

JBaymore, if you have the proper gauge, then it will VTOL. The same person (Rob) who made the VTOL gauge for several FS2004 Harriers. ;)

Layne, the Osprey VTOLs. ;) If it did a VSTOL, then it would have a prop-strike. ;)

Squire, it is the Alphasim one, I guess. :)

best,
Yes, Flaps at full will make the aircraft take off vertically and when retracted in increments will adjust the pitch of the blades. It is pretty cool to take off like a regular aircraft and start rolling down the runway and with the blades adjusted right, start to take off at 30knots!

I think #2 is the best outta the bunch. As far as some of the "quality" comments, I really dont think they're bad at all.

Which model is that Osprey? I've not seen a payware Osprey anywhere.

Maybe it's because my own standard of shots is so low but I can't see any qualitative problems here  ::) :)
I have the Alphasim Osprey, maybe sometime I'll get round to posting a few... looks  great here.
