A storm is coming - part 5

Postby spitfire boy » Sat Sep 01, 2007 4:05 am

Waited a while... but I couldn't resist coming back to this series... ;)

Once again, I advise you, if you haven't seen the earlier instalments, to read them first otherwise the already-terrible storyline will make no sense... ;D

part 1
part 2
part 3
part 4

Apologies for the fact that the storyline is carrying on.... if you hate it, I can understand why but I think you'd also hate it if I posted these four shots without any explanation at all of what's meant to be going on...

The RAF typhoons participating in the deployment have been tasked with escorting several flights carrying several high-priority personnel to an airport in southern iraq. Airliners are being used in order to arouse less suspicion from the Iranian air force. It's acknowledged as a risky tactic... The flight depicted here is deemed to be high-risk... an attack by the iranian air force is expected...

Dawn. The RAF fighters pick up a small signal on their radar... one typhoon accelerates ahead to investigate, and, if necessary, shoot down the unidentified aircraft. The other typhoon stays with the A340...
Image

As it turns out, the unidentified aircraft is iranian and is acting very aggressively... authority is given to take the aircraft down... and a rather unexpected dogfight ensues...
Image

For now, I'll leave it to your imagination as to what happens next...

This is not necessarily the last collection of shots I'll do in this series - I don't know yet...

I hope you like these shots... :D ;)

The aircraft used are;

The AFS-Design typhoon (payware)
The CLS A340-500/600 package available from simmarket.com (payware)
Kazunori Ito's F-14 tomcat, plus a texture package available from Avsim; search 'iran F-14' and it's the second download listed... (freeware)

In the AFS typhoon, the flight dynamics are poor, my dog could fly it. I prefer the Alphasim one. Great shots nonetheless

I never noticed anything wrong with the AFS typhoon.... :-?

Thanks for the comments guys - I'm not sure how I'm going to depict a dogfight in FS - I don't have LOMAC - so if anyone knows any good smoke/flame effects for the F-14 I'm using (Kazunori Ito's F-14 A/D package) then I would be most grateful... ;)

It's fiction... I assure you, I'm as desperate as the next person for this never to happen...

A blue-brown tomcat would have made that last one a little more believable
