mustangs

Postby jankees » Thu May 17, 2007 12:56 pm

I've posted pics earlier of some of my repaints of the Shockwave P-51d WWII Mustang, and one of the remarks was '..eh, they all look the same..' as I had repainted an entire squadron.  I can only hope this is better....

They look just nuts all flying  together. Amazing!  A lot of work in there.... :o
Spectacular stuff!

I think i can do it if i could give the current pilot, not the era pilot. Either way are there any hints?!? Please...
Nice shots...love that plane!

I've got three after an hour or two of research. What source did you use for your repaints? Here are the three:

"Frenesi"
Co 357th FG Tommy Hayes

"Sweet Helen II"
Captain Harvey Mace

"Damn Yankee"
Tom van de Meullen (owner)

Do I really have to get all of them for a repaint? or would half work? :)

Well, three's a start! I named most pilots when I uploaded them here and on avsim I think.
Check out www.littlefriends.co.uk for more info on 8th airforce mustangs. That is my main source of information
As for a (Mustang) repaint, I am always open for requests...

Can you tell me how do you get multiple aircraft flying at the same time to be able to take a screen-shot like this? Great shots. Great plane.

Here are two of the last three, but the last one i have to do is the one without id letters on the side. Any chance i could get a close up of that aircraft to make it a little easier to read the name? (and therefore be able to find the pilot)
anyways...here they are

WD-M Green Capt. George D Suzon

I can see somebody really dug into this!
Unfortunately, I am in the middle of nowhere for three weeks, so far from my own computer, so no close-ups. but on the nose it says "jets delight", one of the reconaissance squadrons. Oh, hang on, I do believe...yes!
Image

As for the multiple planes, I used the recorder module, which is available here on simviation (http://www.simviation.com/fs2004utilities8.htm), this lets you fly a plane and record the flight. You then play it back as AI and fly the next plane and so on and on and on...

And yes, they were George Green, Lt.Peterburs, Lt Lederer, Lt Donell, Maj.Gordon, Tommy Hayes, Harvey Mace and Tom vd Meulen (not an original paint scheme), and Ellis Edwards.
MX-U is actually Big Dick flown by Maj Hewitt, as you can see here:
Image
I believe that's all of them...(funny how the name of the last plane was changed automatically in the text...)

There we are, back from the lands without an internet connection, and it seems that LSmedley got nearly all of them...so is there any (Mustang-)repaint you would like me to do for you? (Or anybody else for that matter...)
This was the latest I did, what do you think?
