I couldn't agree with you more, Michael, Ashar, i don't know how you do it, but you are the only one who manages to keep your shots so detailed under 100KB, well, mostly, i do see some or your shots F**CKED up by compression.

And what the hell are you talking about, they weren't killed by compression..... ::)

These are the best FSX shots I've seen so far! The show FSX's potential very well!

There is a thread I'd like you to look at in the studio Michael... maybe you have some small tips!  ;D

Samel L Jackson :

Another one heard from.

Prove it tell me what you see in the shot that I don't.

Explain it to me.

Explain how it could have been done better.

Everything !!!!

Every bit of your knowledge  including programs to be used, settings, etc.......................................

Show me your FSX, FS9 and all of your settings and I want to see examples of screenshots.

Mees are you implying that my shots lack detail compared to Ashars?

No, I mean that your shots are different, in NO way the same as yours, but Ashar manages not to lose too much quality.

Okay.  If you look at the shot, you can see that it is blurry than when you were flying.  It has nothing to do with the settings of the sim.  If you compressed it less, which you can't do on this forum, it would look just like when you were flying.  Its not a negative comment.  You can't make it better.  You just can't to the best of my knowledge.  Now please, chill out.

Samual L Jackson.

Do you know the difference between mip-mapping and not mip-mapping?

Do you know if the stock planes for FSX are mip-mapped or not ?

Can you tell if this is compression or mip-mapping?

I doubt it

IF YOU OR ANYONE ELSE HERE NEEDS OR WANTS A LESSON IN HOW TO USE COMPRESSION I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO WRITE ONE UP.

Yes please Michael! Can you please post a good tutorial in the Studio? I would like to have crystal clear Ultimate Terrain screenshots in here but I can't even get close to 100K let along under!

I would really appreciate it when you would write a (again) good tutorial about compression :D

I can honestly tell you I don't know if the planes in FSX are mip-mapped.  I don't have it, so I can't tell you.  What I can tell you is that it's not just the textures on the planes, its the entire shot.   The shots are wonderful, no joke, its just that when you, or any one else, compresses a shot from what ever its original size down to <100 kb, its bond to look worse.  If you continue to be horribly rude to me, mees, and ashar, I will have to take these snakes off of the plane, and on to you.

...If you compressed it less, which you can't do on this forum...

Then why mention it? ::)

Saying "compression killed these" is just another way of saying you think the quality is crap. That second image is one of the sharpest I've seen from FSX...

Its not saying the shot is crap.  Its saying that the one posted on the forum is low quality.  If I could get the original of that shot, I would be very pleased.

I'm sorry but I don't keep all of the original 1600x1200 shots on my machine.

However the next time I do a series I will supply you with any originals that you would like.

I actually enjoy snakes !!!!!!

Hey Michael,

Long time no see.  ;)

Been offline for a while, Internet in South Africa is not too good at the best of times.

I simply don't care what anyone on here says or thinks, I think that these shots of FSX are really, REALLY good. I have had a close look at the shots, and you know me, I cannot find much wrong with them in tearms of compression, and I've been taught by the best!  ;D

Although I don't have FSX yet, I would really like to discuss it with you sometime, maybe when I get a broadband connection, or alternatively, I would really like to read something that you might be generous enough to share with us in 1 of the workshop forums.

Hope to chat to you on MSN soon.

Catch ya later DUDE!

Steve.

I have an LCD monitor, and honestly, all these shots look crystal clear to me. Obviously people run at different resolutions so some will see them clearer than others. Gret shots by the way, and im sure youve posted it before but what are your rig specs and settings on FSX. Im sure youve applied tweaks of your own but im just trying to get the jist if you can see what im getting at :)

Cheers

Well, in for a penny and all that!

These shots are very simply outstanding, The detail in the shots is amazing, and the composition of the shots is superb.

The traffic on the roads, the windows on the buildings, the reflections in the water by the ships.. The grubby carparks, the shadows between the buildings, and on the aircraft!

The atmosphere and spirit of adventure captured in them is wonderfull.

Great shots Ramsa
