Phantom Flight

Postby Ecko » Wed Jun 28, 2006 10:11 am

Hi guys!

Here's some shots of the amazing F-4 Gr.2 Phantom II by IRIS. This addon is a whole step above the usual IRIS quality, it's really amazing. 8)

I have the IRIS Harrier too, its a real stonker!

Im setting my sights on their P.40 next - then I may just follow it up with this one.

I did the RAF Textures for Mr Ito's freeware Phantom, so it'll be nice to compare how this one handles. I spent a good deal of time testing the Ito version...

By all means, I'd say I have a fair amount of payware, in fact my payware folder is on the wrong side of 20 Gigs - really a depressing sight.
This is definitely in the top 10 5.

The usual IRIS model is nice, but this is off the scale, I mean it's friggin' awesome!

The afterburner effect rocks in my opinion, it has the coolest wingtip- and topwingvortice/vortex effect. The VC is very, very nice in my opinion, good* framerates, the flight dynamics seem so right - I've never flown a Phantom (obviously :P), but they seem so realistic; It can't take 10+ G's like almost every fighter in FS seems to be able to.

The soundpackage.... ROCKS!!

It has loads of different models and textures, very nice. The model itself is very good, although in my opinion the model has never been IRIS's strong point.

This aircraft was such a nice surprise after the huge disappointment of the AlphaSim Eurofighter Typhoon. I don't want to go off-topic, but don't buy the AlphaSim Typhoon.

By all means make sure this gets in your hangar.

*Considering the VC's complexity. I got about 30 FPS in the VC, which is OK for me.

I have to say this Phantom is leaps and bounds ahead of all the other available models! Even on my old PIII 1Ghz 512Mb RAM machine I'm still getting between 20-25 FPS :o
It is that well made!

Holy Cow!  The effects on that are truly incredible.  Especially looking in the business end.  Wow.
