Great shots Dave (as usual) but this plane is butt ugly!

The Lockheed TriStar is the most gorgeous trijet ever IMO. So well designed, every aspect of it had a purpose and meaning. Making it an S-duct for the No2 engine made the rudder lot bigger than the DC10's which made it able to cope with stronger crosswind landings.

If it wasn't for Rolls-Royce, the L1011 would've give the DC10 a hard run for the money.  :)

What's nice about an MD11 compared to an L1011?
Overgrown DC10 that is instable so MDC had to up with some fancy computer engineering to make the aircraft flyable...

Not that it's anything wrong with that

I gotta agree with Fly2e, the Tristar is a beautiful jet. It just looks so smooth and graceful with that engine cowling just flowing into the tail like that.

Agreed. DC-10 and MD-11 engine #2 isn't nearly as beautiful.
