High and fast

Here we are over the Gulf enroute to Bahrain fron LHR. Flying at 37,000ft and at mach 0.93!!!!! No other passenger jet transport can fly that fast or faster!!!!!! (other than Concorde!!!!)

I like the VC-10. Would like to see more pictures.

The Convair 990 comes close at 0.91 and Cessna Citation X at 0.92 Those are Mmo speeds though.

The VC10 has a VNE of mach 0.94!!!!!!  fortunately during this flight the upper air was quiet and stable as it was the beginning the restitution period. So I could fly with the two needles almost overlapping with a reasonable margin of safety.
There is one documented incident some years ago when a VC10 enroute from South Africa had a medical emergency on board and flew back to London at FL430 and at mach 0.95!!!
The ground speed must have been quite impressive!!
