Why are the Wheels Silver in the last picture?

Because that's how the real SR-71's tyres look. ;D

Great shots, must remember to purchase this bird sometime.

The rear tires are made of different materials because they get really hot on touchdown

The plane is available from Just Flight, it is the Pilots model. Tis nice. Andy get the realistic cockpit from no-nodes ;)

The tyres are silver because they were impregnated with aluminium powder to protect while at Mach 3. The nose gear bay was cooled by the aircrafts air conditioning and didn't need the same treatment.

I have that bird.  It's awsome, it flys completly unlike any of the other planes in my hanger and is quite relaxing.
