Part 1 of 2: CRJ200 LR to Nice/Cote d'Azur

Postby Steve_Butka » Tue Mar 28, 2006 1:38 am

Let me begin by saying that FSPassengers is a great program.  The scary thing about it is that there is plenty of room for improvement on top of it, and it's already amazing.  This was my very first flight for a virtual "Air France" I set up for myself.  I created the company, bought this -200 LR for about $20,000,000 (not bad) in perfect condition.  I took off from some airport in Brest set for an approx. 370nm jump to the French Riviera.  (For those wondering, the plane is POSKY and the rest you see is payware stuff.)  Enjoy my story.

About 10 minutes into the flight at FL250, climbing to our cruise altitude of FL330.

We left about 20 minutes before sun broke the horizon,  Here we are at cruise about to hit one of France's many beautiful mountain ranges, about 200nm out of Nice.

Couldn't get enough of this horizon as the moon said goodbye.  It was only with us for another 20 minutes or so before the sun took over.

A look to the east shows cities still sleeping under the stars.

Just continuing the cruise...nothing special :)

We started our descent at about 90nm out of Nice.  The detail of the mountains was visible to all 32 of my happy passengers once the sun came up.

The passengers weren't happy for long, however.  As I was admiring the view out of the left seat, I heard a strange noise, followed by a few 'sputters'.  A quick glance at my gauges told me that my right engine had flamed out and the FO quickly reminded me of what I already knew.

Part two in just a few minutes :)

Great set... and things are getting tense. At least you didn't actually hit that range of mountains. :)
