Lazerbeak's Very First Payware

Postby Lazerbeak » Tue Mar 14, 2006 7:53 pm

This post marks a momentous occasion for me. It's the first time I start a new topic in the Payware Screens forum, and it features my very first payware plane, AlphaSim's excellent F-22 Raptor package (unless you count the AH Spit prototype). I've wanted a great F-22 for years now, and AlphaSim has answered my prayers. Now, I've entered the "Dark Side". ;D

Tons of detail and animations to drool over with this package.
Image

It takes off really easy, and once it's off the ground, shoots upwards like a rocket.
Image

You gotta love those animated thrust vectoring nozzles.
Image

I was very surprised (and pleased) that it ran so well on my system. My FPS got up to 12 (depending on scenery) which, for my rig, is an excellent FPS rating. It actually runs  better than some freeware I have.
Image

It flies like a dream, and is a ton of fun.
Image

The hell with accuracy, this Thunderbirds paint is the sex.
Image

All in all, I'm a very satisfied customer, and I'm proud to consider myself a member of the "payware club". I guess the only bad thing about buying my first payware, is that I'm now hooked. :P

Nice pics, welcome to the dark side!

I've found, to my pleasure, that complicated and expensive doesn't neccessarily mean high frame rates. For instance, the super detailed and complicated PMDG 747 gets better frames than the average POSKY mosel easily and they don't have the sort of system or panel complexity than the PMDG does. I guess that the better a model is made and the better a complicated panel is put together, the better it runs. The old saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'.
