Shortly before our flight came to an end (KSFO-KBOS). Picked up some moderate ice on the way down.

Nice and real looking....excuse my idiot question but how do you know you've picked up ice, and how does it affect the plane in the sim, or in real life for that matter?

thanks guys!

Well icing can be seen on the leading edges of the wing, and even on the front windshield of the aircraft. On the sim you cannot tell for sure, but i always check the real-world weather before each flight and the clouds over Boston had some pretty nasty ice in them  ;D

In real life though, the aircraft will have a hard time climbing, keeping altitude, and sometimes you may not even notice a big difference. Either way, its not fun in real life!
