Repaint of the Real Air Contra Prop Spitfire MkXIV as Christophe Jaquard's Spitfire RP MkXIX PS890.

Being based on a MkXIV this model has guns and an armoured windscreen that are not a feature of the real aircraft. Still it looks fantastic in PRU blue and with the contra prop it has no torque problems at all making it a dream to fly.

The PR XIX was designed based on the MkXIV airframe to meet the need for a high altitude photo-recon aircraft. It entered service in May 1944 and remained in RAF service untill April 1954.
PS890 was rebuilt by Steve Hinton's Fighter Rebuilders in the US and is the only Spitfire in the world currently flying with a contra-prop fitted.

Nice pics Roger, she is a joy to fly ;)
I believe PS890 is also the only Spit flying with a Griffon from a Shackleton as well....

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Actually Mark, the Rolls Royce Spit XIX has a Shakleton engine fitted and so to, I think, does one of the BBMF aircraft although I could be confusing that with the RR Spit that was once a BBMF aircraft ;)
