ALPHA's Jaguar GR.3A

Postby edzmen » Thu Jun 30, 2005 3:29 pm

Here is a selection of low-level shots I took of Alphasim's Jaguar GR.3A [of 6 Squadron RAF] - undertaking some traditional low-level practice around the Lake District.
Jaguar pilots have always flown lower than anyone else-im going to miss them roaring over my house when the type is retired from RAF service next year. :(

This was part of a pack including the T.4 trainer variant. Its been out a while now but its still my faivourite Virtual Jaguar out there - i love the VC on it too! :)

[Incidentally this is my first screenshot post since getting my Alienware

Nice shots, where you from m8, the lakes? Only asking because I used to live in Keswick. Some nice MB rides around Grizedale as well.

A unique yet seriously underpowered aeroplane if there ever was one. Its a very nice model, and I'd love to have the skill to give it a Real Air Sim quality flight model (staggering into the air, and vibrating like a supercharged washing machine), which is where it really lacks realism. :)

lol, yeah the first image is certaily low flying now!

Wernt they planning to fly the Jaguar off French carriers?! imagine if the landing went wrong, would it have the power to get off again!?

I'd be very surprised if it could - i'd expect that full power would have to be applied very early as the Adour has a very slow spool up time (7-8 secs), which would required very good judgement...

the only thing to remember would be, it would be pretty light returning to the ship.

Still probably looking at a rotate speed of around 160kts (one trip I took in January (cold, relatively damp) had a rotate speed of 180ish kts). And the Jag doesn't do single engine performance, even when it's light, and I particularly doubt on short see bound runways.... :)

On the back of that there would probably be a beefier (ie heavier) airframe too...

Quite nice shots. However, I dont particularly like Alphasim. I bought  their C-5 and being used to the likes of PMDG and Carenado, it was like someone kicked sand in my face.  >:(

Wake up and smell the coffee!  ;D
