CWDT P-51 vs. WoP P-51

Postby Wing Nut » Sat Jun 25, 2005 12:25 pm

There's a bit of a discussion going on about which looks better, so I thought I'd do a side by side and let you decide...

No matter what, each has one point in their favor.

WoP
The flight model is undeniably superior

CWDT
It can do this!

Not that I've seen and I run a pretty much middle of the road machine.  The plane also comes in a high res and a low res version for slower machines.  My specs are:

2.4 Gig
1024 Mb Ram
256 Mb GeForce card

and it runs smoothly, if it does take a bit to load the textures.

The VC in the CW plane is something to behold.  It is smooth as glass and not even a hint of stutter to it.  It doesn't even NEED a 2d cockpit.  Now if I can just figure a way to add gun effects...

The WoP Mustang is more in line with real flying.  Mind you, I have no idea how a real Mustang handles, and what the flight dynamics are like, but certain things like rudder control and spins are more like what I feel when I'm up in a Cessna.   ::)  Until I can talk someone into letting me take their Mustang up for a spin, I'll never know for sure...  ;)

I think the Classic warbirds looks better, So I might get it and compare flight dynamics, hours and hours of 'other games' have left me.... dying to fly, so for the boredom I think I'll add the classic to my collection! Cheers, Gunny

I have flown hours and hours with the Shockwave WoP Mustang and for now, I have never seen an FS aircraft looking so good and flying so realistic. But you really have to install the update, otherwise it's really hard to get her out of a spin.

And let us not forget to mention the incredible Packard Merlin sound! Sometimes when I don't have much time, I put FS on, take the Mustang, start the engine, taxi to the other end of the runway and shut the engine (and FS) down...just for the sound.  8)

from a visual point o view, it seem that the wop. has a nicer arc at the top of the cowl, not so flat, and the spinner is shaped better, and i like the fairing where the wing meets the fuse. i would choose this one for sure, as the subtle shapes are so important to me.....vic
