For DPR: FS Genesis US Roads, streams...

Postby Fly2e » Thu Oct 21, 2004 4:37 pm

Kevin was asking for some shots from the Chicago area. Here are a few outside of the City and a few from around O'Hare.

Not too bad I guess.  Seems pretty accurate.  I really want to know how Dave knew to fly directly over my house!  :o

Dave,

Do you have the "flatten" option enabled in American Roads?  It is not "default" setup.  It looks like it is not.

best,

I just realized the section I said doesn't exist, actually does.  The intersection there included Hwy 83/ Busse Road, Higgins and Touhy Roads.  They reworked it, and the section I said shouldn't be there is now a small side road that is blocked off from the rest.   ::)

I guess we have an accurate target for the MARMALADE now.  ;D ;D ;D

How does it  effect frame rates? ....... as it seems to add soooooooo much more detail.

Im still not convinced that I want to buy it. They look too much like gray lines painted on existing surfaces. If they made them less lined (like tree coverage in some areas) I might consider it.

Stephen, I was a bit concerned myself but I think it is really a neat add on! It seams Chicago is really flat. I flew around in Washington State and the rivers and streams were awesome! Hey, you can always un-check it in your scenery settings. I am pretty picky also and think this is really wild. Now when I fly around Long Island, I can Follow the Long Island Expressway and laugh at all the Peole in traffic, then follow the Sagtikos Parkway North right to 25A and over to my house! It shows exit ramps and everything.

I have yet to see any rail lines though

Dave,

The rail lines use Microsoft's default textures I understand... and they are not really "distinct".

Take it from me; Chicago IS flat!  It really does look like they've painted the lines over existing scenery though.  You can see buildings cut in half by the roads above.  Doesn't bode too well, but I think I'll get it and try it out.  :)
