Early morning we prepare to head towards the frigid Arctic to drop supplies off for a camp of US Geologists. The weather this time of year doesn't cooperate well considering those that live in sunny Florida are enjoying beaches and bikinis, we are tempted with sub freezing temperatures, strong winds, and icy conditions.

And away we go.

Cruising at altitude, we are blessed with a fantastic view as the clouds break giving us a glimpse of the newly fallen snow blanketing the lands below.

Cruising C-130

of course the weather was short lived, and as we reached Base Omega, the winds had picked up again, the snows began falling, and visibility dropped. What makes it more difficult is we were not landing on a runway, but instead a cleared path. Good thing we have skids on this beast.
