Mt. St. Helens blowing off steam again today

Postby JBaymore » Sun Oct 10, 2004 4:55 pm

Heard the news that Mount Saint Helens was once again blowing off some steam today.  Decided to chance flying into the TFR area to have a little look for myself.

Ben,

I created it ... but I'm still working on it.  It gives some of the effect that I want already.  The problem is that a more realistic recreation is a MASSIVE amount of smoke/steam.  All those effects particles have to be "tracked" by the cpu.  I had it looking very real with a huge plume of steam trailing off into the distance.... but the framerates went down to a slide show  ;).

Still working on solving that issue.

best,

Very nice.  I hope you get the effect you're after.  I'd like to have that for Mt. Etna in Sicily,  where my mom is from.

Diabolos,

Thanks.  It is FSGenesis mesh. I have the entire USA installed.  I've had their stuff since FS2002.
